What is the state of play on the right to food in Malaysia? What are the remaining challenges as the country moves towards high-income status?
The Special Rapporteur conducted a nine-day visit (9-18 December) to the country, holding consultations with a range of ministries at federal level and from the states of Sarawak and Sabah, and consulting broadly across civil society. He also met with communities in Petaling Jaya, Sengalore and in the Penampang region of Sabah.
In his preliminary report he calls on Malaysia to ensure that growth is not achieved at the expense of the environment and the rights of vulnerable groups in society, such as the indigenous communities and migrant workers./p>
